Oregon Binational Health Week Inauguration Event
Health Promotion Fair

The Binational Health Week is a massive health campaign mainly targeted to the Latino community to promote physical activity, healthy habits and at the same time facilitate access to healthcare to underserved immigrants from Latin-American countries.
BHW is focus on bringing awareness on some of the most critical health issues affecting the Latino community like cancer, diabetes, heart disease and HIV.

The inaugural health fair is scheduled to take place on Sunday October 4th at Lincoln High School featuring more than 25 agencies and sponsors. Admission to the fair will be completely free. This event is intended to be a fun family event designed to provide reliable information, education, free health screenings, referrals, workshops, and many other services and activities including a Soccer match to engage the latino community into a healthy lifestyle in a fun and friendly atmosphere.

This is a collaborative initiative coordinated by the Mexican Consulate in Portland through the Institute for Mexicans Abroad (IME) with the support of Multnomah County Health Department, Regence, American Diabetes Association, American Red Cross, Woodstock Chiropractic, Tuality Health Care, Providence Health & Services, Cascade Aids Project, Oregon Health and Science University and many other organizations and sponsors that have endorsed this effort.

  • There will be a separate area for children with games and activities
  • Education, advice and materials will be available in Spanish
  • Bilingual volunteers and medical staff.
  • Privacy and confidentiality
  • Health presentations and screenings
  • Referrals and advice about access to health care services.

Important information for agencies:

  • Set up time begins at 8:00 a.m.
  • Clean up starts at 3 p.m.
  • Important information about the facilities and set up guidelines will be confirmed ate least a month prior to the event.
